In this tour, you will travel through west to east in Bhutan. Besides enjoying the birds of Bhutan, you will be thrilled by the astounding beauty of our countryside. Although the roads in Bhutan

are winding and you have to travel up and down in the mountains, yet you will enjoy a lot with our experienced driver and guide with natural beauty of this country.

Day01: Arrive to Paro International Airport – Transfer to Hotel

Arrive at Paro and receive by the representative of Authentic Bhutan Tours at the Paro International airport, only airport in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. From here directly we will visit National museum of Bhutan, if it is not closed. Lunch in Paro. After lunch we will visit Paro dzong (fortress) and then stroll around Paro town. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel Paro.

Day02: Paro – Thimphu

Very early in the morning we will drive to Chelela pass with your pack breakfast. The pass is the highest pass, where the car can go in Bhutan. On the way we may see the following birds:

  •  Colourful Himalayan Monal
  •  Flocks of Blood Pheasants
  • Kalij Pheasants
  • Grosbreaks
  • Bullfinches
  • Cutia

Besides see these birds we can also see the Mountain Jhomolhari & Jichu Drakye beautifully on clear days from the pass. There are lots of prayer flags here at the pass. We will have our breakfast here, near the pass. After enjoying the sight of birds, prayer flags and mountains on clear days, then we will drive back to Paro, to our hotel. We will take rest in the hotel for about 1hour and then we will hike to Taktshang, Tiger’s Nest till the viewpoint.

We will have lunch here at the viewpoint, Taktshang cafeteria. Walk back to the car point and then we will drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. The drive will take about 1hour 30minutes from the road point. Evening stroll around the Thimphu town and explore handicraft shops for Authentic Bhutanese Souvenirs and gifts for your friends and loved ones. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel, Thimphu.

Day 03. Thimphu Halt

We will hike to Cheri Monastery and during the hike we may spot the following birds:

  •  Spotted Laughing Trush
  • Fire Capped Tit
  • Golden Breasted Fulvetta
  • Yellow Backed Flower Packer
  • Maroon Backed Accentor

Lunch will be served as pack lunch near the riverside. Drive back to Thimphu and doing some sightseeing in Thimphu, like visit to Memorial Chhorten, Buddha Poitn, Weaving center, Bhutanese paper factory and post office to buy the Famous Bhutanese Stamps. We have bird stamps also-which are very beautiful and can be good souvenirs for your bird lover friends and for your own collections too. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel, Thimphu.

Day 04: Thimphu – Punakha

Drive to Punakha over dochula pass (3150m). stop for a while at the pass for a breath taking of eastern Himalayan Mountain Ranges on a clear days and also to see the 108 small chhortens (stupas). The following birds species can be found on our way to Punakha.

  •  Gold-naped Finch
  • Rufous-breasted Bush Robin
  • Satyr Tragopan
  • Slender-billed Scimitar Babbler
  • Tree Creepers

Lunch will be at Lobesa. Hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, which is located at a hilltop. This temple is also known as ‘the temple of fertility’. The hike will take about 25minutes from the road end through the farm fields. Then we will drive to Punakha and visit the magnificent Punakha Dzong. Dinner and overnight stay at Punakha, Hotel.

Day 05: Punakha – Trongsa

We drive to Trongsa over Pelela pass. Today we may find the following birds on our way to Trongsa.

  •  Blood Pheasant
  •  Yellowish-billed Bush Warbler
  • Great Parrotbill
  • White Winged Grosbeak
  • Fire-tailed Myzornis
  • Maroon-backed Accentor

Lunch we will have at Chendebji Restaurant. Then continue our journey to Trongsa. If we have time, we will visit the impressive Trongsa dzong. Dinner and overnight stay at Trongsa, Hotel.

Day 06: Trongsa-Zhemgang

Drive to Zhemgang with pack lunch. We will our pack lunch whenever we feel hungry. Today we may see the following birds beside the good opportunity to see the golden – Langure – an animal endemic to Bhutan. On the way we may see the following birds.

  •  Chestnuts Breasted Partridg
  • Ward’s Trogon
  • Rufus Necked and Great Horn Bill
  • Blue-napped Pitta
  • Blue fronted Robin
  • Wedge Billed & Bar winged Wren Babblersand many more

Dinner and overnight stay in Zhemgang hotel or camp.

Day 07: Zhemgang – Tingtibi

Today we will explore the birds from Zhemgang till Tingtingbi. Dinner and overnight stay at Tingtingbi, Camp.

Day 08: Tingtingbi – Trongsa

After an early breakfast, drive to Trongsa with your pack lunch.We will stop wherever necessary if we spot birds on our way back to Trongsa. Continue our journey to Trongsa. Dinner and overnight stay at Trongsa, Hotel.

Day 09: Trongsa-Bumthang

Drive to Bumthang. The drive will take about 2hours. Today we will find the following birds:

  •  Great Parrotbill
  • Yellow-billed Bush Warbler
  • Maroon-backed Accentor
  • Fire-tailed Myzornis
  • Ibisbill
  • Blacked –billed Magpie
  • Spot-winged Grosbeak
  • Red-headed Bullfinch

If you have time, we will visit to Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang. Stroll around Bumthang town. Dinner and over night stay at hotel Bumthang.

Day 10: Bumthang – Sengor

We will drive to Sengor and camp there. We will take pack lunch. Lunch we will have hot pack lunch or at our camp. We continue with our birding tour in Sengor area. We will be able to see the following birds in this area:

  •  Yellow-billed Magpie
  • Fire-tailed Myzornis
  • Jungle Fowl
  • Satyr Tragopan
  • Nutcrackers
  • Warbblers
  • Robins

and many more.

Dinner and overnight stay at Sengor Camp.

Day11: Sengor – Yonkala

We are in the broad leaved forest and it is the best birding place towards the eastern Bhutan. Our camping crew will move towards our next camp after our breakfast. Then we will drive to Yongkala stopping at different place. Lunch will be served at the camp. Birding tour continues. Today we may find the following birds:

  •  Satyr Tragopan 
  • Fire-tailed Myzornis
  • Bar-winged Wren Babbler 
  • Golden-breasted Fulvetta
  • Yellow –throated Fulvetta 
  • Blue-fronted Robin
  • Broad-billed Warbler 
  • Chestnut-breasted Partridge

  • Grater Rufus-headed Parrotbill 
  • Rufus-breasted Bush Robin
  • Rufus-necked Hornbill

Day 12: Yongkala – Korila

We will drive to Korila via Mongar. Lunch will be served at Mongar. Today we will find the following birds:

  •  Yello-vented Warbler
  • Rufus-bellied hawk Eagle
  • Collared Treepie
  • Fire-tailed Sunbird
  • Grey-winged Blackbird
  •  White-collared Blackbird
  • Dark-sided Flycatcher
  • Shikra
  • Kalij Pheasant
  • Peregrine falcon

Dinner at Korila Camp.

 

Day 13. Korila – Trashigang

Drive to Trashigang. Lunch will serve at Trashigang. Drive to Rangjung. Dinner and overnight stay at Trashigang. We will find the following birds on the way.

  •  Blue-fronted Redstart
  • Brown shrike
  • Rustry-Cheeked Scimitar Babbler
  • Black kite

Day 14: Trashigang – Dewothang

Drive to samdrupjongkhar. The drive will take about 6hours. Lunch will be served as hot pack lunch. Continue our journey to Dewothang. The following bird can be spotted on our way:

  •  Great Barbet

  • Spangled Drongo 
  • Blue Whistling Thrush
  • Beautiful Nuthatch 
  • Yellow –throated fulvetta
  • Grey-sided laughingthrush

Day15:  Dewothang Stay

Today we will explore the birds of Dewothang and Bangtar area . Dinner and overnight stay at Dewothang. In the evening your guide and driver will complete your immigration formalities. We will also see your Indian car and driver who will drop you tomorrow to Guwahati Airport. Your Bhutanese guide and driver will bid you farewell during the dinner time, as they will leave to Thimphu, next day very early in the morning.

Day16: Dewothang – Samdrupjongkhar – Guwahati

After breakfast, you will drive to Guwahati airport (India) by Indian Car. The drive will take about 3hours. We wish you a very safe and comfortable journey nack to your country.
